Simeone's philosophy as an artist is that of an adventurer; every project is a journey that he takes to different beautiful and rewarding destinations. The inspiration for his art derives from the past and current events, and his love for people and animals. He demonstrates a great depth and breadth in his work, which encompasses a variety of styles, techniques, mediums, and subjects, all depending on his current thoughts and experiences. Throughout his career, he has participated in various exhibits and competitions, and has secured several honors and prizes for his displayed works.

Simeone Novello was born the youngest of seven children in the warm, little town of
Casabona on the Southern Italian region of Calabria, where he spent 18 years before
moving abroad. With a big family and a small town you can imagine the charming
atmosphere that the town of Casabona had to offer. Immersed in pure nature, Simeone took
the opportunity to enjoy and study all his surroundings. Native flora and fauna, tiny alleys
around the town, and local farmers were the perfect subjects for his drawings. His art
received the attention of local painters, in particular Glauco Minarchi, a surrealist self-taught
artist, who served as his mentor. Thanks to Glauco and a good friend, Franco LeRose, who
gave Simeone financial support to purchase his first canvas and oil colors,

Simeone was able to pursue his passion. Simeone still has his first used tube of paint purchased from the
Bottega D'arte owned by Oreste Froio, (Teacher and Painter) as a reminder of how his artistic life began. He
completed his first paintings in 1984, which he gave away as gifts to family and friends, and they remain
scattered across the town.
In 1988, after he completed military service in the Italian Army, Simeone moved to Germany to find
employment that the lagging economy of Southern Italy struggled to provide. He obtained employment as a
chef in the scenic haven of Konstanz since he also had a passion for cooking that was instilled by his father,
who cooked frequently with homegrown produce. However, Simeone continued to pursue his art in his free
time. In Germany, he painted mostly with a surrealistic touch and was influenced by the interaction of his rich
past with the new country and culture he was experiencing. It is in Konstanz that Simeone met his future wife,
Evelyn. After six years of living in Germany, Simeone and Evelyn married and relocated to New York City. His
artwork during the three years he spent in New York was clearly influenced by the diversity of this urban
setting. His next move to Los Angeles, CA brought about another evolution in his work as his styles continued
to diversify. After seven years in L.A., he has begun to focus on his art full-time and has taken on the new
mediums of ceramics and photography.
